Can L words be Ludic? Of course!

We are in week L of ABC Wednesday. I have to admit, it’s become the highlight of my week. The meme was started by Mrs. Denise Nesbitt. Each week we select a word(s) beginning with the designated letter for that week and illustrate it through a photo, poem or prose.

My twist on the meme is selecting unusual words from The Phrontistery and pairing them with photos of familiar things in my world. Sometimes it’s hard to come up with anything I think anyone would want to see. Most of the time it serves as a reminder for me to watch, listen and pay attention to things around me, and realize the impact they all have on my life and attitude. Here’s what I came up with for this week.

larine: of, like or pertaining to gulls
Next to people watching, my favorite pastime on the beach is watching seagulls. There is a calm that washes over me when I’m by the ocean, listening to gulls. Although, their bravado in scavenging for food sometimes makes them downright aggressive towards my lunch.

leman: a lover, sweetheart or paramour
Army Wife and Guy have been reunited for almost two months now since his return from Afghanistan. She has a bounce to her step and is sleeping much better at night. I think he is too.

lochetic: waiting in ambush
This majestic hawk flew in low overhead at College Girl’s last golf tourney. We all were sure he was going snatch a golf ball from the green. Fortunately, no golf balls lost their lives that day, and no penalty stokes were taken.

ludic: spontaneously and aimlessly playful
Two accurate words to describe this “big sister/little brother” duo of College Girl and Tanner. They may be of different species, but their attitudes toward life are eerily similar.

This is Round 6 of ABC Wednesday. It’s great fun and anyone can join in at anytime. To peek at previous weeks or check out this week’s entries, click on the ABC Wednesday logo in my sidebar.

  1. Fun L words for the day! Always good to learn some new ones and your photos are always delightful. To play these memes a little bit in our own way is what makes them such fun and interesting, too! Hope you’re having a great week1

  2. I love these – your daughter and her husband look so very happy. And that last shot…Tanner’s expression is just a treat! 🙂

  3. In all honesty I didn’t know any of those words today, though I might have guessed ludic in the end. Do you remember a board game called Ludo? Is it still played, I wonder. I must, must, must remember larine because the gulls here fascinate me. I watch them all the time.
