Yes, Peanut, there is a Santa Claus

Yes, [Peanut], there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! how dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus. …There would be no childlike faith, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence…

No Santa Claus! Thank God! he lives, and he lives forever. A thousand years from now… nay, ten times ten thousand years from now, he will continue to make glad the heart of childhood. ~Francis Pharcellus Church and published in the New York Sun’s Editorial Page in 1897. (with just a touch of poetic license from Nana)

Santa defies the laws of physics. He transcends time and space. He’s present in the face of every child on Christmas morning, regardless of the size or shape of the gifts given. Santa helps us believe in love, hope and the simple joy of giving to others.

It doesnt matter if he’s known as Saint Nicolas, Ol’ St. Nick, Father Christmas, Kris Kringle, Father Frost, Père Noël, Sinterklaas or any number of other names. All these names reflect an enchanting desire to bring a little magic and joy into the lives of children…and in return, into our own.

  1. Santa is the spirit of Christmas. The love, the sharing, the giving generously – not generously as in dollars, but as in with love, with wanting to make happy, with loving the sparkle in the eyes of those receiving that love.
