The Glow of Happiness

When we recall Christmas past, we usually find that the simplest things – not the great occasions – give off the greatest glow of happiness.
~Bob Hope

This may go down in history as my favorite Christmas shot of Peanut. As we put up the tree after Thanksgiving, she humored me by draping herself in lights. I’ve always wanted to take photos of a child draped in Christmas lights. There’s something so magical about it. So, check that one off the list.

This will be the first year we’ve seen her on Christmas since 2010. Oh sure, they came up for visits around the holidays, but their trips never quite worked out for Christmas Eve or Day. There’s something magical that happens to a house at Christmas when there are small children in it. I suppose it’s because we adults tend to go out of our way to do things we don’t normally do to make the holiday memorable.

We have yet to take Peanut to see Santa this year. I’m sure that’s on the to-do list along with a special outing to see the movie Frozen. We’re trying hard to catch all the Christmas specials on TV as this is the first year she will really remember seeing shows like Frosty the Snowman, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Rudolph and Here Comes Santa Claus. And then there’s her Mama’s favorite movie we’ll try and watch close to Christmas Eve….Prancer.

So, Santa will come to Nana and Papa’s house this year. It’s been a while since he was at our house for the wee ones. I sure hope he remembers the way.

  1. And I can see why this photo is your favorite because it’s truly magical and sweet!

You said it! This is why I love this time of the year where I work. We have a Santa Village upstairs on the third floor of our store, so from now until the Christmas, the store is full of parents bringing their children in to visit Santa. It’s so wonderful look at Christmas through the eyes of children.

    ” Frosty the Snowman”

    I LOVE that one!

Have a great day, my friend…x

  2. What a great idea for a photo. We too miss having the kids and their little ones and big ones on Christmas so it is always a plus when we can have an extended visit during the holidays. I’m sure your house will be all aglow as they say with wonderful smiles and squeals of joy. haha The littlekins in the photo is adorable.

  3. such a sweet photo! Bob Hope made the military and us who watched his specials every year on TV very happy! His family were wonderful to share him during the Christmas season.
