And then she was gone (again)

Well, it didn’t take long…about two months for The Golfer to jump ship and head back to the Sunshine State. She came home mid-November to reassess some areas in her life. We were hoping she would stay, but something told me she wouldn’t once the reality of  a Midwest winter hit.

Granted, the current temps are well below normal, but she’s been complaining commenting about how cold it’s been since the first of December. Doesn’t she look cute as a bug in that Nanook of the North hat?

I think she had a good time with family and friends during her hiatus from Florida. And we certainly enjoyed her time at home during the Thanksgiving and the Christmas holidays. She needed the R&R and mental break. And I needed to see my baby girl.

Peanut had the opportunity to reconnect with her Godmom while she was here. And Big Brother had a chance to spend some time her again while he was here over his school break as well.

And there was a rare sighting of all of the cousins on Entrepreneur’s side of the family in one room at the same time…looking at the camera. They’re not too happy with her right now for moving back.

To be fair, she was offered a full-time position with a youth golf foundation in Florida. She was a part-time golf coach there before she moved home. After she left, they realized they simply couldn’t live without her, and lured her back with a program director position…with the ability to continue coaching kids on the side. Bump in salary and full benefits. SCORE! They will also support her while she completes her LPGA teaching credential requirements. She’ll live with a girlfriend until she’s settled into the new job and can look around for a place of her own.

So, rested and refreshed, she begins anew…again.

But much to Entrepreneur’s dismay, she’s left her cats in our care. Temporarily or permanently? That remains to be seen. Entrepreneur is lobbying for temporary. I’m more flexible.

  1. Hoping her new job and re-evaluated life work out just as she wants. Sometimes we all need a chance to sit back and find a new perspective – find our balance and our priorities. Special that you were able to share that time with her.

  2. Awww, this is definitely bittersweet, Lisa, but it’s good that she had some time to think things over, and it’s good that she was with you while doing that.

Coincidentally, I was just “left” with a dog of my daughter’s. We never discussed temporary or permanent, and although it’s only been a bit over a week, I can tell you that I’m thinking permanent here! He is such a little love. 🙂

Yes, she sure does, Lisa! I love that hat, btw!

And having lived in Florida myself, I know what it’s like to live there and get used to the warmer weather year round, and then suddenly get hit with colder temps. – it’s like a shock to your system. Especially after you’ve lived there for awhile.

Looking at your temperature (right now), it’s the same here. It was so cold this morning that I couldn’t even open a window in my apartment because they were frozen shut.

Great photographs! And being a cat lover myself, the pics of your daughters two kitties is so precious!

    Stay warm, my friend!

  4. So glad you got to have your family together. Love when those grown kids have time for visits. My middle baby moved to California this past summer, but we did get to have him living around for a few years.

So nice that she got the job promotion. Always nice also to know that the kiddos are well on their feet, and we too have had to keep the grand-pets on occasion. 🙂 Happy Tuesday.

  5. Bittersweet indeed. I know you will miss having her under your roof again, but I imagine you must be very proud of her as she takes this next step in her career. And, hey, there are always vacations to be had in sunny Florida!

Your family is gorgeous, Lisa! Hope you all stay warm out there in the Midwest! (Here in Connecticut it was already 14 by the time I woke up – I guess we’re getting a warm front!) 😉

  6. Lisa, You have such a lovely family. How wonderful that you got to spend so much time with you daughter, short as it was. Our son and his wife are here for their yearly visit, which lasts 3 days.

YIKES – Those are cold temperatures. We have had unusually cold days, too, but nowhere near windchill of -30.

P.S. I don’t know if you know that Jetpack has a plug-in for the WordPress “Follow” button; in case you are interested in adding one.
