Technically, she was one month on March 3rd. And what a month of challenges and changes it’s been. Twix is now firmly ingrained in our lives and we’re adjusting to the *new normal* at our house.
It’s not how Entrepreneur and I envisioned spending our empty-nest years, but I’m fairly certain we’d never trade this amazing opportunity for anything. Life has a way of taking away….but sometimes those take-aways are replaced with something equally as sweet if we’re willing to taking the detours.
Isn’t she simply precious? [sigh] And what a little cuddlebug she is. There are those that will scold us that she’s already spoiled by being held so much. But I don’t believe it’s possible to spoil a one-month old baby. She’ll know without a doubt that she can count on us to keep her safe and secure; that there are people who care about her comfort and well-being. By providing that secure base alongside new experiences, she’ll be better able to be curious and venture out on her own…knowing she can always return to the safety of *home base* if needed.
Okay, stepping down from my soapbox now. 🙂
The Investigator is relishing her maternity leave….as she should after pushing herself to exhaustion with overtime and on-call nights…and is now perfectly content to spend time cuddling with her baby girl. Soon enough she will return to being a working mom and need to figure out how to balance work and home; professional and personal.
And we’re all trying very hard to make sure Peanut has lots of quality attention so she doesn’t feel like she’s playing second fiddle. Papa even took her to breakfast….just the two of them…yesterday morning before school. Mama is planning a girls outing to get manis and pedis soon. I’m the one who she coerces into reading endless amounts of books before snuggling at bedtime.
Overall we’re all adjusting as a family quite seamlessly.

Extended generations used to live together at one time. In some cultures, that is still true. Here in the U.S., it is a blessing if you don’t have to get on a plane to visit family. You might not have planned it, but your little ones are so fortunate to be growing up with you and all of that extra love and attention.
