The largest of blessings are those that are small.
~Unknown
We’ve all heard of the traditional Irish blessing, but I think this one is perfect for St. Paddy’s Day. It’s one that reminds us that not all blessings come to us as large, showy windfalls from heaven. Some come as subtle reminders of the small things God puts in our lives….and to be be largely thankful for them.
It’s so easy to overlook those small blessings, isn’t it? A smile; a kind gesture; air to breath; clean water; green lights on our way to work :-)……Sometimes we’re just so preoccupied with those big-ticket items on our wish list we don’t pay attention to these small things. But it’s the small blessings that help get us through every day.
Perhaps if we’re grateful for the little blessings in our lives, God will trust us with the larger things our hearts desire.
I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. Philippians 4:11
Kim’s Texture Tuesday’s theme is Color. And I had this color combination formed in my mind long before figuring out the logistics of the shot. I like the soft green of the afghan against the tan backdrop. The ruffled, pink pants were the Investigator’s idea (they’re part of her first dress) and the bonnet is mine from when I was a baby. Twix cooperated like a seasoned model and I’m happy with the result.

Lisa, I love both the quote and this…
“Some come as subtle reminders that we need to remember the small things God puts in our lives….and be largely thankful for them.”
You are so right, my friend. It’s the small things to be LARGELY grateful for.
And what a precious photo of Twix! She looks so cozy and comfy. Love the colors. And also, that little touch of PINK.
Happy St. Paddy’s Day!

You’re so right! I often do give gratitude for the things we usually take for granted like a hot shower, hot tea, and a warm home. Hey, it’s cold here and all those things feel like luxuries when it’s 25 below!

Twix does look like a seasoned model. So cute. I love that she is wearing your baby bonnet.
I am trying to recognize and be thankful for small blessings. It is an even bigger hurdle to be “content in whatever the circumstances”. I’m working on it. Thanks for the reminder. It’s a blessing.
This is a beautiful post 🙂

That is exactly why I count them.. it has changed my life. And, yeah you used the bonnet. I was going to ask if it was the same one if you had not mentioned it.

So often, it’s the small blessings that add up to everything that truly matters to us – singularly and collectively.
Life. New life. A kind and considered life. It all sounds simple, doesn’t it? And in many respects, it is, thankfully.
