Quotography: April

forcythia-copy

April hath put a spirit of youth in everything.
~William Shakespeare

Oh my goodness, I’m so happy spring has sprung. Tanner and I have had a couple of walks, and just the scent of spring in the air is enough to lift the spirits out of the winter doldrums. I snapped a shot of this sweet forsythia bush without much attention to composition or background while walking one afternoon. When I opened it in Photoshop I discovered I’d captured a fabulous shot of the power utility box behind those lovely blossoms. And that’s all my eye could see when I looked at the photo! But I wanted a shot of forsythia so to post-processing I went.

Duplicate layers, one color and one black and white. Mask together and select the brush tool. Make sure the colors are set to black as the foreground and white as the background. Select the BW layer and begin brushing away the areas you don’t want, revealing the color layer underneath. Top off with a color bar right smack over the power box and finish with a lovely spring quote.

Problem solved. 🙂

Yes, it’s the same here. A few days ago, I took my new camera outside and got some really nice shots of spring flowers starting to bloom. You can really smell and feel spring in the air!

Enjoy the rest of your week, my friend!
