November Photo Challenge: Morning

photo blog challenge

It’s no secret around our house that mornings are not our best time. Aside from Entrepreneur, who is one of those annoying larks, the rest of us don’t do mornings very well. It’s….well…forced behavior. At least that’s the case for me.

But PJ’s theme this month is morning, so here goes…….

Morning has broken #1
There is something to be said for sunrises. They do have their place. I love how the shadows stretch their long fingers towards me in this shot. It’s almost as if they’re reaching for me….probably to kidnap and force me to wake up. But, they’re too late. The 35F temps slapping me in the face already did that as I walked Peanut to the bus stop.

Speaking of shadows, this solitary shadow is from a morning walk. It’s been extremely difficult for me to get back into the habit of walking since the passing of our Golden Retriever, Tanner, in September. I’ve found as long as I meet up with a neighbor and have someone to talk to as I walk, I’m okay. But, when they drop off at their house, I’m left to walk alone and the solitary shadow feels the loss of that wonderful walking buddy.

Peanut is fascinated by the morning frost. She brings white-fringed leaves in the house only to discover the delicate crystals tend to melt quickly in 68F. This shot is SOOC (Straight Out Of the Camera) and I didn’t do anything to it in post-processing except crop it. No…really…I didn’t. Scout’s honor.

Twix is probably the second-best morning person in our home. After breakfast, she’s happy to survey her domain of the front and back yards out the windows. Then it’s on to deconstructing the inside of the house.

Autumn is quickly transforming itself into winter, but I’m still holding on to the cozy colors, smells and textures of the season. While it’s not uncommon for me to start my day with a cup of hot tea with honey, it seems to taste just that much better on those morning that have a chill in the air.

Late addition bonus photo:

We spent a few days over the Thanksgiving holiday in Jacksonville Beach, Florida with The Golfer. This is how we started our turkey day morning….mimosas for everyone!

[yawn] Now, I believe I need a nap. Try and take time to make your way over to PJ’s to see how morning affects the others. 😉

  1. These are great, especially if you were just half awake when you took them. The long shadows really help to convey the time of year, reinforced by the touches of harvest / Halloween. That triple Twix photo is so great, the angle of the sun is perfect and the reflection in each pane of glass in the double pane window. Lovely.

  2. I like your perspective on mornings. It seems like you’ve had some sunny mornings where you live. I love the shadows and and rays of sun through the tall trees and the refection of Twix in the window glass. nice photos xx

  3. Lisa, I feel the same about mornings as you do. I much more an afternoon and evening (sunset) person. Yet, I have to say…your photographs of morning are just beautiful! Love the sunlight you captured coming through the trees in the first one. And the one of the frost is simply gorgeous. BRAVA!

Great shot of Twix! I can’t believe how fast she’s growing because I can remember you sharing photos of her when she was only a few weeks old.

Well done on this photo meme, my friend!

  4. I really love that first photo with the shadows and such. Really nice capture. And that photo with the frost.

For somebody who isn’t a morning person, you did a tremendous job capturing this theme!
