It’s a choice.

Attitude is a choice. Happiness is a choice. Optimism is a choice. Kindness is a choice. Giving is a choice. Respect is a choice. Whatever choice you make makes you. Choose wisely.
~Roy T. Bennett

Isn’t that the truth? Do you ever find it odd that so many people claim they want complete control over their own lives and then blame-shift off onto others when it comes to not wanting to have a good attitude, or be happy and optimistic? All of a sudden, there’s a million excuses for not being kind or respectful with remarks, thoughts and actions.

Is it really someone else’s fault when we find ourselves with a crappy attitude, unhappy, pessimistic, unkind, selfish and disrespectful?

  1. There are people that can dampen spirits, but we have control over how we react, just as you said. It’s easier to blame others than ourselves because if it’s your fault I’m grumpy, I don’t have to exert any energy to change it.

  2. Powerful and very, very wise. This should be in every yearbook. Life gives us a variety of experiences. What we do with them is within our control. I firmly believe this. We need to take responsibility where we can, and live our lives the best that we can. Always, with a kind and giving heart.

  3. This one is wonderful, Lisa. I think Carol said it best here:
“It’s easier to blame others than ourselves because if it’s your fault I’m grumpy, I don’t have to exert any energy to change it.”
I wish you and your family a blessed Thanksgiving, my friend.

  4. FABULOUS post, Lisa, and a topic I agree with 100%!

I believe that I can’t control the experiences life brings to me. However, I CAN control how I perceive them. It’s my choice in how I choose to perceive them.

Wishing you and your family a Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving Day, my friend!

    Cheers and X
