Photo Challenge: Get out and play!

Well, June came and went rather suddenly, didn’t it? We seemed to be busy all the time so this month’s photo challenge wasn’t too hard. This monthly challenge is hosted by PJ over at A ‘lil Hooha and he has an updated meme logo. Pretty spiffy. He selected Get Out and Play for the June theme.

Okay….whatever you say!

Get Out & Play 1 (GO&P1)
The month began with our church’s version of vacation bible school called Kids Club. It’s VBS on serious steroids where 800+ kids and 700+ adult volunteers spend every evening together for a week learning about their faith. Each night has dinner, a skit for the entire group, age-appropriate crafts, games and bible studies. Twix is tie dying in this shot….which was, mercifully, done under tents outside.

GO&P2
The fourth and fifth graders finish the week with a mud obstacle course which is the highlight of the week for them. Peanut was right there in the thick of it….literally the thick of it. Yes, I did get the mud out of her shirt. Thank you Borax and OxyClean.

It’s a week that needs to be seen to be believed. You can watch a video recap of all the fun and games HERE.

GO&P3
When Kids Club was finished, we officially opened the backyard pool for summer fun before they left for six weeks to Alabama to be with their father.

GO&P4
Peanut has taken horseback riding lessons for a couple of years and it was time to see if Twix was big enough to be on the back of a full-size horse. While not completely outside, the arena is more or less open to the elements, so it counts. She looks so small up there! This is Shadow, a 26-year-old horse used for beginner riders.

GO&P5
This last one needed two photos. One morning our internet was down (oh darn). We were left to enjoy some old fashioned summer entertainment. After washing bikes, both girls fashioned themselves a place to relax…with not a screen in sight. Soon, more umbrellas, blankets and clothespins were added to make individual yurts.

There were more outdoor activities in June, but I had to limit it to just five. Check out more outdoor fun over at PJ’s. If you want to join in each month, it’s so easy! Just pick five shots related to the prompt and post at the end of the month. You’re taking photos anyway, so why not play along? 🙂

  1. OMG yes, June came and went in the blink of an eye. It’s JULY already.

Lisa, these photos are so much fun! And I can’t believe how much Twix has grown. I still remember her as little one when she was first born. She still has that sweet, adorable face.

I remember having one of those blow-up pools when I was a kid. I thought we were just so cool to have a pool in our backyard. Then, when we moved to Florida, we had built-in pool.

Twix looks so comfortable and at home on that horse. She looks like a professional jocky!

    Love those watermelon blankets!

Have a great week, my friend. And Happy 4th of July to you and you family 🙂
