PJ’s prompt for June was The Notebook. Ideas didn’t come easily for me this month. Probably, because I don’t really use notebooks much anymore. And, I could only come up with four ideas instead of the suggested five.
Notebooks do come in many forms as a way to record thoughts or organize information. I remember having a plethora of notebooks throughout school….during the pre-digital eras. And don’t even try and Google Notebook for ideas….because most of the returned results are about the movie. Great movie, but I don’t own it so it’s not included in my monthly pics.
So, alas, I was left to my own devices.
Notebook 1
Ahhhhh, the traditional spiral notebook. Who remembers when these didn’t have the nice perforated line so papers could be cleanly torn out without those scalloped edges and hanging chads? You do? You just dated yourself. 😉
Notebook 2
This is my notebook now. Lists, notes and other info I want to record usually end up here.
Notebook 3
This exception happened when Twix was going to Nana and Papa Pre-K. After completing her work in subjects ranging from letters to numbers to science to math to art, we compiled all her accomplishments and progress into her own notebook. She got to decorate the cover. It’s a nice memory of a special time we spent with just her before she went to kindergarten.
Notebook 4
This is the closest thing I have to a traditional notebook. It’s a gratitude journal I started the first of the year. My goal is to write in it every day a few times a week to remind me of the good things going on in my life. With the current state of affairs in our world, sometimes it’s a struggle to come up with positive things to record. But, if I sit and think long enough, I realize there are lots of little things to be thankful for along with the “headliners.”
That’s all I have this month. I encourage everyone to visit A ‘lil hoohaa for more takes on The Notebook.
Notebooks make me think of school. I do have some that I use for information, instructions, and patterns for various hobbies.

Normally, I love all things paper as well. I still don’t have a kindle. I love curling up with a physical book.

We can always be grateful for something, sunshine, or that my feet do not hurt today, or something. You did well with the assignment, so there’s a thankful thing, too.

Nice job, Twix (and Grandparents), creating wonderful memories and documenting developmental steps!
I may not look the part, but I did have spiral books without perforated lines, what a mess!!!
There are always tons of people and things to be grateful for, it may feel like we’re repeating ourselves though.

I do too, Lisa! And I also remember those black and white copybooks. You can still find those in drug stores, like Walgreens.
And you’re right, the majority of people now use their smartphones as notebooks. But do you know what I still do? I still put my grocery list on a piece of paper and hand-write it, instead of using my phone. I feel like I need to put pen to paper to remember things.
Faaaaaaaaaabulous shots!
Love Twix’s preschool notebook. Great idea!
Wishing you and your family a Happy 4th of July!
