Thankful Thursday: End of summer

Here is is mid September and, while I’m happy to look forward to Autumn, there’s always a bit of angst over leaving summer behind.

As the calendar pages turn, I’m reminded of all the things in which I am grateful. My family, my health and people I can turn to for spiritual and emotional support top the list. Our home is comfortable….and that we have one. We have enough food on the table and the ability to work to support my chocolate and wine habit ourselves.

I’m thankful we are able to look ahead to full retirement and not be terrified of making ends meet (so far)…knowing many people do not have that luxury. I’m thankful we have the means (financial and labor) to help those in need to assistance.

I’m thankful Entrepreneur is still kickin’ and his recent MRI and CT scans show no growth or spread of the cancer. I’m thankful for medical professionals and scientists who have the expertise to invent and facilitate treatments to save/prolong lives.

I’m thankful we live in a country that enjoys freedoms other places in the world can only dream of. That, despite America’s flaws, it’s still a country people risk their lives to enter. Although, I’m very concerned about our inability to be tolerant of opposing political views, and the growing civil unrest at the hands of domestic terrorist groups bent on destroying our republic.

So, while we say good-bye to the warmth of summer, may everything we’re grateful for in this life serve to warm our hearts, always.

Linking up with Brian’s Home and Thankful Thursday. What are you grateful for today?

  1. It’s always bittersweet when summer ends, but I’m ready for some cooler weather.

Great nees on hubbies health. He remains in my prayers.

I hate all the unrest too. I’m also aware of the why too.

    Happy Thankful Thursday. 🙂

  2. Beautiful post, my friend!

Meeeeee too, Lisa! I’m so happy to look forward to Autumn. So happy! And I can already feel a slight shift in the air. And I got so excited the other day when I spotted all the seasonal products in Trader Joe’s. Even PUMPKINS! 🙂

And it’s ironic you mentioned gratitude because I too have been feeling that a lot lately. Even for the most simplest of things, I am eternally grateful. I actually feel unbelievably wealthy and blessed.

Again, beautiful post. Wishing you and your family a wonderful weekend!

  3. What an adorable photo. Fall is definitely a favorite, although today’s temps for 9-18-2020 are more like Winter is in the wind. More chilly than normal. Temps in the 40’s at night and some frost predicted already. brrr
Great news on your hubby. Especially, as this virus is still around. Stay well. 🙂
