Hot on the heels of Round 6, ABC Wednesday begins again this week with Round 7! Thanks to Denise Nesbitt who started it all and her team who tirelessly read and comment on all entries.
Based on comments and feedback, it looks like I’m continuing with the unusual word theme…that, and I couldn’t come up with anything I liked better. I hope I can live up to your expectations again this time (a)round. I’ll be pulling words from sources here, here and, of course, here.
I found this Amazing image and thought, “What an Absolutely Awesome and Appropriate way to begin!” Obviously we all love words or we wouldn’t be playing this meme.

Now, let’s get unusual.
acinaceous: full of kernels.
I just found out I’m getting 10 DOZEN EARS OF CORN tonight. Not just any corn, but Mennonite corn. Incredible, edible, perfect, melt-in-your-mouth-and-off-your-chin sweet corn. We’ll pull some out for eating immediately and the rest will be cut off and put in jars for the winter. If you want to see what fun I’m in for this evening, go HERE.
aerostatany: lighter-than air craft; balloon.
What’s an A post without some reference to aerial elements?
affusion: pouring on; as of baptismal water.
A couple of months after Peanut was born, we brought her to receive God’s gift of grace through baptism. Many people don’t agree with infant baptism, but we believe the blessing of baptism is God’s grace and covenant given to the recipient. God’s grace is a free gift and not dependent on any thing one does to “deserve” it (Titus 3:5-6). Doesn’t she look simply angelic?
and in keeping with the angelic topic…
angelology study of angels.
This is what my guardian angel looks like. Don’t mess with her.
apian: of, like or pertaining to a bee.
Most of you have seen this one before, but it’s one of my favorites
*abecedarian: of, like or pertaining to the order of the alphabet

You are absolutely right. Amazing. Amusing. Appealing. And as always, absorbing. Can’t wait for next weeks entry. So glad you’re playing again!

I really dig your guardian angel picture! Ok- I have corn here at my Mom’s. I am going to make cold corn chowder from Goodhousekeeping magazine august issue for dinner tomorrow. I love corn even if it is a grain.

The angel baby won hands down. Maybe because we have four(not-quite-so-small) of them? 🙂

Dear LisaF,
Thank you for visiting my A-post. Yes, I plan to make a pie. And if there is not enough (which I think there will be) I will just buy some apples in the store and mix them.
What a wonderful collection of unusual A-words! Love your little Peanut and your guardian angel (need one of them!)
When Elisabet was born, she had to have open-heart surgery at the age of one week old. It went well and she’s fine today, but we did not know that. We were told that she would die if they did not operate. So we had her christened in the hospital the evening before the operation. Just in case. So I agree with you about infant baptism. It is a gift.
Best wishes,
Anna
